This is particularly noteworthy given the slowdown in growth being seen in some other developing and emerging regions of the world. The Leisue & Tourism industry constitutes an important pillar in unlocking Africa’s economic potential. The revenues from tourism in Africa represent more than double the total given in donor aid. While growth has been achieved and sustained even in the aftermath of the global financial crisis, there is still further growth potential in the region. A major challenge for Africa is to embark on inclusive and green growth.
Ubuntu Impact Investments sees opportunities for investment in Africa’s tourism sector’s continuing growth and development. Our investment plans encapsulate the energy and potential in the region, coupling its natural resources with locally based services and produce provisions. The growing demand from both domestic and international tourists is currently underserved by recreational facilities and our vision is to create some of the finest Leisure & Tourism facilities in the region. As a labor intensive sector across a spectrum of skills, we see valuable contributions to local economies in addition to the creation of opportunities for greater regional trade and integration. Tourism has the capacity to contribute significantly to the agenda for social inclusion, as cultural endowments and natural assets can be leveraged to create opportunities for local communities. The abundant natural resources can also be harnessed for a transition.
